Black in the Day A look at 1970s Fashion | Happy Black History Month!
[1973 Soul Train Footage]
Take a funky journey back in the day with this 1973 Soul Train Footage! Not only are the dance moves dope, but the threads on the dancers are groovy :)! Check out the 1970s denim blue dress at the 2:15 mark, paired with earth-toned tights and some bad (in a good way) clogs! A vintage lovers dream come true, now if I can only find a similar dress! Ahhh, the funky journey begins....

The Rich & Vintage Play of the Day: Forever My Lady
[Check out the Rich & Vintage Play of the Day!]
Other than this record being a classic, featured on the feet of the hottest 1990s all male band is the infamous Jodeci boots or Doc Martens. I am desperately searching for some authentic vintage docs to add to my vintage wardrobe collection.

Roxanne's Revenge | Vintage Vibin'

| [Roxanne Shanté] |
In the hip-hop age of the Nicki Mirage's, it is easy to lose sight of the rap pioneers of yesteryear. With the over-gimmicked hypes of today, the distraction from lyrical content to superficiality is bound to occur. Lip injections, butt implants, breast implants, exaggeration weaves, and outlandish outfits have become the norm. Instead of the showcasing of talents female emcees in hip-hop seem to be showcasing their ass-ets.
Reminiscing about the good ole' days of hip-hop, Roxanne Shanté or as she exclaimed "The Real Roxanne" came to mind. Busting on the scene at 14 years old, Roxanne Shanté left her mark on hip-hop world with her infamous diss response Roxanne's Revenge. Responding to hip-hop's trio U.T.F.O's record Roxanne Roxanne, she climbed to fame and created what is now known as one of the first female rap battle. Claiming the title as the "Real Roxanne", she is one of hip-hop first lady's and rightfully so!
Check Her Out:
[I love this video.. classic old school without all the glitz & glamor of today just raw lyrical skills. ]

I must own a pair of Jeffrey Cambell's shoes before the year is over. So I now have 362 days to complete this goal! His shoes are so yesterday meets today & has a baby with tomorrow! In other words they are modern vintage. The very look I go for while shopping for shoes for Rich & Vintage.

Vintage Inspiration: Black's in Vintage
This post Black's in Vintage is for the vintage photography lover who searches the internet with no avail looking for yesteryear prints of people of colored. In search of inspiration for www.richandvintage.com, I often times search the internet for African-American fashion from the 1960s & 1970s with little to no luck. To my luck, while browsing Facebook I noticed my cousin posted GREAT pictures of my family from the 1970s & 1980s!
I hope you enjoy these pics as I much as I did!
To the Left is my Aunt in a Tri-Color Maxi Dress and My Grandmother to the left in a Classic Little Black dress. I'm loving the deep neckline btw!

I absolutely love that top & the black clutch accents the look tremendously.

Rich Girl Of the Week: Budding Model Fanchon Brown
![]() |
[Source]Meet Rich Girl Fanchon Brown a budding model who struts through life with style like a true fashionista. Far from being camara shy, Fanchon who refers to herself as Miss Fancy is quoted exclaiming "I absolutely, LOVE the camera and the energy I put into making a shoot all my own. I have the ability to change my look at a moment's notice". She couldn't have stated it better! From glitz glam to urban, Fanchon's look is that of a chameleon. Changing at a "moments notice" she's a photographers dream. |
